{Noble Mind}

“The most noble cause known to man is the liberation of the human mind and spirit”

~ Maya Angelou

Liberation implies that something was once confined.

Limited from its fullness of expression.

And that at some point the bars of imprisonment were released.

Defined by Oxford, the mind is “the element of a person that enables them to be aware of the world and their experience, to think and to feel”.

According to hermetic philosophy “The All is Mind; The Universe is Mental” - The Kybalion

Kadampa Buddhism states “It is a formless continuum that functions to perceive and understand objects” - Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

For a moment we must distinguish the difference between brain and mind. Due to the common misunderstanding most people have, in which they think the two words represent the same thing. They are two separate entities, yet interconnected.

Dr. Caroline Leaf, communication pathologist and neuroscientist, articulates the difference in the following excerpt:

“The mind uses the brain, and the brain responds to the mind. The mind also changes the brain. People choose their actions—their brains do not force them to do anything. Yes, there would be no conscious experience without the brain, but experience cannot be reduced to the brain's actions.

The mind is energy, and it generates energy through thinking, feeling, and choosing. It is our aliveness, without which, the physical brain and body would be useless. That means we are our mind, and mind-in-action is how we generate energy in the brain.”

- How Are The Mind & The Brain Different? A Neuroscientist Explains

Brain is the physical organ through which activity of the mind is facilitated. Without the brain – the mind could not find expression, and without the mind – the brain would remain a complex organ of soft nervous tissue with nothing to dictate its activity.

Understanding the difference is necessary because without it – you fail to realize the power you hold over the brain. And in turn, likely become a helpless victim of it.

A person of Noble Mind accepts responsibility for the mind and takes conscious control of it. They utilize their energy, which the mind in itself is, to deepen and expand their experience of life. They use it to optimize their state of Well Being.

Once a person becomes aware of their ability to utilize the mind; the mind can begin to fully express itself.

Full expression of the mind is what a person of Noble Mind seeks. For the mind is the very mechanism through which we discern and undergo life. If the mind finds full expression, invariably the totality of what you call as “my life” will find full expression as well.

As it pertains to what has in fact “imprisoned” the majority of people's minds, the answer is simply ignorance. Ignorance of the power of the mind, which if alleviated – would give them influence over their thoughts and emotions. Instead of being tortured by them.

The mind is energy. It is energy that influences the activity of the brain which then influences the activity of the body.  It is your innate ability to use it at your own discretion. One must simply realize and accept this truth in order to liberate their mind.

A person who takes claim over their own mind, undoubtedly, will construct and manage themselves in the most ideal manner they can conceive. Individuals operating from their highest ideal would in turn create a most beautiful world.

A world of human beings possessing liberated minds would be a most beautiful world indeed.
